How to register a vehicle at any RTO in Rajasthan?

On purchase of any new vehicle, we get a temporary registration, and within 7 days of getting it, it is necessary to get the permanent registration done because against this you get an RC, which is necessary to keep with other documents like your license, PUC certificate, and fitness permit, if applicable, while driving.

1). To register your vehicle with the RTO, then the first thing you have to do is arrange the following documents:

  • Form 20 (Application for Registration)
  • Form 21 (Sale Certificate)
  • Form 22 (Manufacturer Roadworthiness Certificate)
  • Valid Insurance Certificate
  • Address Proof
  • Identity Proof
  • PAN Card (or Form 60)
  • Invoice of the Vehicle
  • Temporary Registration Certificate
  • Road Tax Payment Proof

2). You will have to fill out Form 20 yourself, get it self-attested by making photocopies of all the documents, and go to your nearest RTO with your form and original and photocopy of all the documents.

3). After reaching the RTO office, tell the concerned officer that you have come to get your vehicle registered. He will ask for the requested documents from you. After verification of the documents, your vehicle will be inspected.

4). Lastly, you will have to pay the registration fees, road tax, and other charges, after which you will get a unique registration number, and then within a week you will receive your RC (Registration Certificate) via post.

Note that Registration for a private vehicle is valid for a total of 15 years, after which it has to be renewed every five years. In case of a commercial vehicle, the validity of registration depends on the fitness and permit of the vehicle.
