If you don’t want to be issued a challan against your vehicle while driving on public roads in Jharkhand, make sure you have all the required documents, including your:

  • Driving Licence
  • Registration Certificate
  • Pollution Under Control Certificate
  • Third-Party Insurance
  • Fitness Certificate

And if you have a commercial vehicle, make sure you have a speed or national-level permit. Along with having the necessary documents, it is also important that you follow all the traffic rules implemented by the RTO.

What should you do if a traffic challan is issued against your vehicle in Jharkhand?

If you violate any traffic regulations in Jharkhand, a challan will certainly be issued against your vehicle. Should this occur, it is mandatory to pay the fine within 15 days; failure to do so may result in you receiving a court summons.

The Jharkhand RTO has also established a rule stating that if a challan remains pending, the ‘Pollution Under Control’ (PUC) certificate, which requires renewal every six months, will not be renewed.

Furthermore, if you are caught driving without a valid PUC certificate, you will face even heavier penalties, potentially compounding your difficulties.

Therefore, ensure that any pending challans are cleared in a timely manner, and make it a point to drive in strict compliance with all traffic rules in the future to avoid incurring any challans whatsoever.

How do you pay a traffic challan in Jharkhand?

To pay a traffic challan in Jharkhand, you have two options. The first option is to visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) where your vehicle is registered; you can go there to settle the payment and clear your challan.

The second option is online. For this, you must visit the e-Challan portal, enter your vehicle registration number, driving licence number, or challan number to view your challan details, and then proceed to make the payment using a debit card, credit card, or net banking.

In addition to the e-Challan portal, the ‘mParivahan’ mobile application is also available for making online challan payments.
